ACC Linkfest 12/29/2016 - FSU, Virginia impress in conference opener

FSU and Virginia each opened conference play with impressive victories on Wednesday night.

FSU faced Wake Forest in a up-tempo game that saw both teams shoot it well while relying on guard play.  Wake Forest managed to stay in the game, making 10 3 pointers, despite foul trouble from their leading scorer, John Collins.  Collins finished with just 2 points in 18 minutes played.   In the second half FSU opened things up though thanks to Dwayne Bacon and XRM.  Bacon and Rathan-Mayes each scored 23 points in the win.

Virginia opened up conference play at Louisville but the road suited the Cavaliers just fine.  Virginia's defense forced a shot clock violation on Louisville's opening possession which set the tone.  Virginia hit their first 4 shots and opened up a double-digit lead by the first media timeout.  Virginia ultimately won by 8 but the lead was never threatened by Louisville.  Oddly enough, only one player from both teams managed to hit double-figures as Devon Hall finished with 10 points.
