We go from coldest to hottest.

0 – Ice Cold

1 – Still cool

2 – There’s smoke

3 – Getting Warm

4 – On Fire

5 – Start working on the resume

Dabo Swinney, Clemson  = 0

Hotseat and Dabo Swinney are not even in the same sentence. They are 8-0 too.

Dave Clawson, Wake Forest = 0

Dave Clawson has Wake Forest in the top 10 – the top 10 folks.

Mike Elko, Duke – 0

Duke is a surprising 5-3 under new Mike Elko. They are one game from bowl eligibility.

Dave Doeren, NC State = .5

There wasn’t much Doeren could do about the injury that ended Devin Leary’s, but after the Syracuse loss there were a couple of whispers if Doeren will ever get NC State over the 9-win hump.

Tony Elliot, Virginia  = .5

There’s some frustration with Tony Elliot from Virginia fans, but it’s just year one.

Brent Pry, Virginia Tech – .5

There’s some frustration with Brent Pry from Virginia Tech fans, but it’s just year one. Sensing a trend in the Commonwealth?

Dino Babers, Syracuse  = .5

Dino Babers went from hotseat to Orange Bowl contender in less than 3 months.

Mack Brown, UNC  = 1

UNC is 6-1, ranked, and the Coastal favorite now. That will quiet any hotseat talk for Mack Brown right now.

Pat Narduzzi, Pittsburgh = 1

Nobody is firing a coach a year removed from an ACC Title and long-term deal, but mentions of a fluke 2021 are in the background.

Mike Norvell, Florida State  = 1.5

The Noles have 3 games in a row, after a 4-0 start, but the schedule is more manageable in the 2nd half and the Noles are showing progress.

Mario Cristobol, Miami = 2.5

It might just be year 1 for Mario Cristobol, but Miami looks like a total mess after 3-4 start with blowout home losses to Middle Tennessee State and Duke. Miami fans are not happy early in his tenure at all.

Brent Key, Georgia Tech  = 3

When you are interim coach, you are automatically on the hotseat. Key guided Georgia Tech to two quick wins, but QB Jeff Sims status is unknown. Key’s chances at getting hired go as Sims goes.

Jeff Hafley, Boston College = 3.5

The wheels have come off Boston College season after a 2-5 start. Jeff Hafley will be feeling some heat. It increases with each mounting loss.

Scott Satterfield, Louisville = 3.5

Louisville still has a very difficult finish to the season, but they are playing hard and have lifted their record to 4-3. That has cooled Satterfield’s seat, but just a little bit.
