ACC Baseball Rolls Into Super Regionals with Five Teams Still Dancing

What a weekend for the ACC. Five teams—Louisville, Duke, North Carolina, Florida State, and Miami—are headed to the NCAA Super Regionals after a strong showing in regional play. It’s been a season full of parity and power in the league, and this past weekend proved the ACC might just be the deepest conference in college baseball this year. Whether it was walk-offs, dominant pitching, or road grit, these five squads all earned their spots with some seriously impressive performances.

Louisville looked sharp all weekend and now gets to host a Super Regional at Jim Patterson Stadium. The Cards are playing with confidence and balance, and they’ve got the arms and bats to make some real noise. It’s been a few years since Louisville made a deep run, but this team feels like one that could get hot at the right time.

Duke is quietly building a postseason identity under Chris Pollard, and this year’s squad might be his best yet. The Blue Devils took care of business in Athens and now get to host in Durham—yes, you read that right. Hosting a Super Regional at Jack Coombs Field is a big deal for a program that’s steadily climbed the national ladder. This team is gritty and efficient, and they're not afraid of the spotlight.

Over in Chapel Hill, UNC stayed hot after winning the ACC Tournament. The Heels had to sweat it out in the regionals, but they delivered in the clutch, as they’ve done all year. They’ll now host Arizona with a chance to get back to Omaha. With their combo of power bats and a bullpen that knows how to close, UNC looks dangerous.

FSU may have been on the ropes a few times, but the Noles found their way out of trouble and walked out of the Tallahassee Regional as champs. They’ll head west to take on Oregon State in Corvallis—a tough ask, but this group seems to thrive in high-pressure moments. Don’t count out Florida State making a statement in the Pacific Northwest.

And then there’s Miami. The Canes weren’t perfect, but they showed up when it counted. They’ve got some serious talent in the lineup, and if the pitching can hold up, they’ve got the pieces to keep advancing. It’s been a bit of an up-and-down year, but Miami's postseason pedigree is never in question.

With so many great matchups coming in the Super Regionals, wouldn’t it be awesome to simulate these games and see how they might shake out? That’s exactly what MLBGameSim.com does for MLB games—projecting scores, stats, and outcomes. If only we had a version for college baseball. It’d be a blast to run Louisville vs. Kentucky or Duke vs. West Virginia through the simulator and see what shakes out. Maybe someday.

For now, though, all eyes are on the field. The ACC’s got five chances to crash the College World Series party—and based on how this postseason has gone so far, don’t be surprised if multiple teams from the conference make the trip to Omaha.
