ACC Team of the Week : Miami – for a 27-24 win over Notre Dame, Florida State – for a 31-17 win over Alabama

17. North Carolina (0-1)

Last Week: —

Not only did North Carolina lose to TCU in a 48-14 blowout, they were largely dysfunctional after their first drive. Gio Lopez is not the answer at QB, and it was a disaster of an opener for Bill Belichick. Could they possibly lose to UNC-Charlotte?

16. Stanford  (0-1)

Last Week: —

Stanford didn’t look poorly coached, but they have an issue at QB with Ben Gulbranson, who struggled big time in a loss to Hawaii. BYU is the wrong team to try and fix things.

15. Wake Forest (1-0)

Last Week: —

Here’s where the ACC drops off big time. Wake Forest won, but it was an ugly 10-9 win over Kennesaw State. Let’s see if they can get to 2-0 with Western Carolina next.

14. Virginia Tech (0-1)

Last Week: —

Virginia Tech put up a  solid effort against South Carolina, but too many makeable plays were missed. If Virginia Tech has really progressed they need to take care of Vanderbilt.

13. Syracuse (0-1)

Last week: —

Syracuse’s offense showed some pop against Tennessee, but the defense was shredded to pieces. Syracuse can’t sleep on UConn.

12. Virginia  (1-0)

Last Week: —

Tony Elliot and Virginia needed a good start to the season, and they got one with a 48-7 over Coastal Carolina. NC State will be interesting OOC matchup. Yep it’s not an ACC game this week.

11. California  (1-0)

Last Week: —

Cal’s win at Oregon State fell under the radar, but it shouldn’t. Freshman Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is a QB you better get familiar with.

10. Boston College (1-0)

Last Week: —

Boston College beat Fordham last week, but if they knock off Michigan State on the road, then BC might have something.

9. NC State (1-0)

Last Week: —

East Carolina is always a dangerous opponent for ACC opponents. NC State took care of business and CJ Bailey looked good at QB. Virginia is an intriguing opener that will not count in the ACC Standings.

8. Pitt (1-0)

Last week:  —

Pittsburgh erased Duquesne 61-9, and Desmond Reid proved he’s the best return man in the ACC. Central Michigan is next.

7. Duke (1-0)

Last Week: —

Darian Mensah looked very good in his first game at QB with Duke, but that was Elon. Do it against Illinois and win then the country will know about Mensah.

6. SMU  (1-0)

Last Week: —

Ok SMU let’s find out if you are truly one of the better ACC teams this year when you host a credible Baylor team at home.

5. Louisville (1-0)

Last Week:–

Louisville gets an upgrade in competition with James Madison this week. Still if Louisville is the team I think they are, they’ll cruise.

4. Georgia Tech (1-0)

Last Week : —

Georgia Tech turned the ball over one their first 3 possession and fell behind Colorado on the road 7-0. Lesser teams would have lost, Georgia Tech outscored Colorado 27-13 the rest of the way and QB Haynes King was great in the run game. Gardner Webb should help the Jackets to clean things up.

3. Clemson (0-1)

Last Week: —

Clemson lost 17-10 to a very good LSU team, but at home it left questions of where this team is really at. QB Cade Klubnik seemed to have regressed back into the bad habit locking into 1 receiver, or bailing out of the pocket too son. Troy this week won’t tell us much.

2. Florida State (1-0)

Last Week: —

Florida State didn’t just beat Alabama they mauled them 31-17. Yes FSU just beat-up Alabama at the line of scrimmage. East Texas A&M Good luck.

1. Miami (1-0)

Last Week: —

QB Carson Beck’s Miami debut could not have went better as Miami beat a top 10 Notre Dame team 27-24. Miami winning while facing adversity against a good team is a big deal. Bethune Cookman is a nice breather.
