The #19 SMU Mustangs will open their season on Labor Day Night against an FSU team that has already gotten a head start on their campaign as they defeated New Mexico St. 34-17 on Saturday. QB Ashton Daniels got his first taste of action as the leader of the Noles, amassing 232 tot yards and was responsible for 2 scores. The FSU defense did its part as well allowing only 47 rushing yards to the Aggies. They will now take aim at an SMU team that has aspirations of getting back to Charlotte for the ACC Championship Game for the 2nd time in 3 years. Kevin Jennings returns at quarterback and leads an offense that had 33 plays of 20+ yards and averaged 32.2 points per game. Their defense was top 3 in the conference surrendering only 20.5 points per contest, and they will have to break in some new additions.
