The big news on Saturday around the ACC was that Maryland is in "serious negotiations" with the Big Ten.  The reaction from Terps alumni and fans has been in opposition though.  ESPN broadcaster and Maryland alum, Len Elmore calls the move "sad". “From a standpoint of tradition, I didn’t think my alma mater would be looking for a money grab, one of the most pernicious things in all of college sports,” Elmore said. “It’s nuts. They’re blinded by the dollars.”  For a guy like me that likes tradition, I completely agree with Elmore, and I hope Maryland reconsiders.

In ACC basketball, FSU picked up a good win in the Coaches vs Cancer classic over a St. Joseph's team that has been picked to win the Atlantic 10.  The Noles played good basketball, and appear to have put their opening night loss to South Alabama behind them. Also, Virginia showed they can score the basketball, defeating Seattle by 40 points while Wake Forest was manhandled by Iona and lost 94-68 in the Virgin Islands.

Three games on today's ACC basketball schedule with Boston College taking on College of Charleston at noon, NC State playing Oklahoma State at 6:30 in the Puerto Rico Tipoff final, and Duke hosting Florida Gulf Coast at 8.
