The following post comes from friend of the site, @hokieguru who has been all over this story from the beginning.
Many Atlantic Coast Conference basketball fans know that this is the one of the most anticipated seasons in Virginia Tech Hokies men's basketball ever. Unfortunately, we've had a few well-known injuries. Allan Chaney, transfer from Florida, is likely out for the year with heart condition and J.T. Thompson is out for the year with a torn ACL … and it would be a shame if this season went down in flames because of injuries.
It won't. Here's why (and we thank the Virginia Tech football program):
1. We are staying with our story from November 4, 2010 that star football player, wide receiver, Marcus Davis, will play men's basketball for Virginia Tech. Sources continue to inform SCACC Hoops that he will walk on during the ACC men's basketball season.
2. I was in Blacksburg over the weekend for the annual Commonwealth Cup football game between Virginia Tech and Virginia (Hokies had a big win 37-7) and had a chance to talk to several people. Multiple sources inform SCACC Hoops that Prince Parker, reserve tight end (all 6'6" and 262 lbs of him) for the Virginia Tech Hokies football team, will also walk on to the men's basketball team. Parker was a standout forward for Maury High School in Norfolk, VA. I am very intrigued about Parker it reminds me of a Tony Gonzales/Antonio Gates type of situation (both play tight end in the NFL, but played college basketball at Cal and Kent State, respectively).
Additionally, here is Prince Parker's tweet to @HokieGuru
hokieguru Matthew
@pip4gd So, heard you were an awesome hoops player at Maury... please walk on to the Virginia Tech men's hoops team #WeNeedPostHelp #Hokies

It will take a couple of games for these players to get into basketball shape, but I expect that they will give us a good 8-10 minutes at the three and four spots. That is all Virginia Tech needs, anything more would be a pleasant surprise.
