Our Virginia Tech insider, Matthew aka @hokieguru, gives us this scoop...

Unnamed sources tell SCACCHoops that, Marcus Davis, wide receiver for the Virginia Tech football team, will also play for the Hokies' men's basketball team this year.  He will walk on to the team (for scholarship purposes, he is football player) in late December or January.  At 6'4', 229 lbs., Davis will help provide some inside strength for the Hokies.  He will likely take some of the minutes that were going to J.T. Thompson (who went down to an ACL injury) and Allan Chaney, a forward who transferred from the University of Florida.  Tyrod Taylor called Marcus Davis the most physical freak on the Virginia Tech football roster.

In football, Davis was rated the Ranked the No. 9 player in the state of Virginia by The Roanoke Times.  He was also ranked the No. 38 athlete in the country and he No. 12 player in the state of Virginia by Rivals.com.  Davis was also standout on the Ocean Lakes High School (Virginia  Beach, VA) basketball team.

Here's a video of Marcus Davis doing the dunk thing at Virginia Tech (he is the 2nd dunker in this video):

This is pretty big news for the Hokies.  Virginia Tech is no stranger to having football players play men's basketball.  In 2003-2004, former quarterback, Bryan Randall played basketball.  In 2004-2005, former Virginia Tech tight end (and now tight end with the Carolina Panthers), Jeff King, played men's basketball (who was the only guy in the ACC who could play inside vs. Duke's Shelden Williams).
