Last Power Rankings from 12/21
- Duke
- UNC - UNC started slowly against Marshall, but picked things up in the 2nd half and won easily.
- Clemson
- Wake Forest
- Miami - Miami beat NC A&T 80-59 and spread out the scoring with 8 players scoring at least 5 points.
- FSU - The Noles beat UT-Martin behind 18 points from freshman Michael Snaer. Snaer was the prized recruit in Leonard Hamilton's class, but Snaer hasn't earned big minutes thus far.
- Virginia Tech - The Hokies handled UMBC behind 17 points but the big thing for Seth Greenberg is the emergence of Dorenzo Hudson. Hudson has averaged 15.8 points per game over the Hokies' last 4 contests.
- Georgia Tech
- Maryland
- Boston College
- Virginia - The Cavaliers went 2-0 this week winning both games easily. In particular the win over Hampton was impressive as it showed Virginia could be a potent offensive team. In the Hampton game, UVA posted an offensive efficiency of 138.
- NC State - The Pack lost their only contest of the week in a game at Arizona. Despite the tradition known at Arizona, NC State could have won this game despite playing without the suspended Tracy Smith. The loss results in the only change in the power rankings this week as NC State falls to the last spot.
Notes
In the upcoming week the ACC basically finishes up the non-conference schedule. The week starts slow with some cupcakes, but finishes with the next conference game as Duke hosts Clemson on Sunday night hoops. Mixed in this week are matchups between Charlotte and Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Seton Hall, NC State and Florida, and Wake Forest and Xavier.
