Last Power Rankings from 12/14
- Duke: The Blue Devils traveled to New York to play Gonzaga on Saturday and dominated the Zags defensively. Duke posted a defensive efficiency of 59 in the win and held the Zags to an eFG% of 28.
- UNC: The thing that was evident in the 103-90 loss to Texas was UNC lacks a player to stop their opponent's run. Typically a run isn't stopped by a jumpshot or a post play, but a player attacking their defender and getting to the rim. The Heels simply don't have it and it showed in Texas on Saturday.
- Clemson
- Wake Forest: Wake Forest has shown moments of brilliance this season, but all too often it is followed by lackluster play. I tweeted during the game last night that if Ish Smith is leading the Deacs in field goal attempts its a bad sign. Smith led Wake with 13 FGAs in their 8 point win over NC State.
- Miami
- FSU: Florida State played at #22 Georgia Tech to open their conference schedule and showed the young Yellow Jacket team that you win in the ACC with defense. Georgia Tech was held to an eFG% of 38 and more importantly the due of Lawal and Favors were held to a combined 12 points. Coming into the game that duo had averaged closed to 30 points per game.
- Virginia Tech
- Georgia Tech: The calls for Paul Hewitt's job have started. This tweet in particular says it all, "The only way I decrease my anger & frustration with the way our hoops team plays is just to not care as much. What a sad statement."
- Maryland
- Boston College
- NC State: Without Tracy Smith in the game, the Pack's offense is weak. Smith played just 23 minutes against Wake Forest.
- Virginia
