This just in, the block/charge call isn't that hard for the referees. It's just in our heads.
At least, that's what came out of the Take Charge Officiating Camp at Le Moyne college this weekend.
It's a commonly-held belief that the charge-block play is the most difficult to make. However, ACC supervisor of officials Bryan Kersey, ACC referee Jamie Luckie and Big East referee Pat Driscoll all said the charge-block isn't that hard; it's just disputed by fans on nearly every occasion.
....
Driscoll, who also works Big Ten Conference games, said that league's experimentation with replay review on charge-block calls last season showed the officials' initial call to be right nearly every time.
Alternate Title: ACC Basketball Refs gather to pat each other on the back! He said, "NEARLY EVERY TIME". That settles it!
