Unpopular Opinion: Jim Boeheim is a Good Addition to the ACC Network

Last night, I caught Nothing But Net, which is the ACC Network’s college basketball preview and postgame show.  The show features Kelsey Riggs and Luke Hancock (many of our Louisville readers really love Hancock), but the show boasts a new in-game studio analyst in hall of fame Syracuse and USA men’s basketball coach, Jim Boeheim.

Unpopular opinion:  I’ve really enjoyed the addition of Boeheim to Nothing But Net.  He is an outstanding analyst, but most of all, you can tell he is having a lot of fun.  You can tell the stress of coaching for decades at Syracuse is off his back – and he is enjoying life at large.

Last night, Boeheim interviewed Joe Girard, III (his former Syracuse guard) – and the coolest thing about Boeheim is that he is incredibly self-deprecating at times.  Girard, who is a graduate transfer at Clemson University, played a hell of a game vs. in-state rival, South Carolina, last night.  Boeheim was like, “So how are things going down there?  I’m sure you are getting better coaching than you did the last three years at Syracuse.”   He deadpans this with a straight face (like when he used to say, “Oh, you know, we’re no good this year.” And then Syracuse ends up in the Elite eight sort of thing)  Everyone on the set – including Girard – starts laughing out loud – and then you could see how excited Girard was talk to his old coach – and catch up.  You could tell that Girard still loved his former coach.

Boeheim knows the game very well – and will proud outstanding analysis on the set – and he seems INCREDIBLY laid back – he is perhaps the complete opposite of Seth Greenberg in the studio (who is also fun) – but maybe has more energy lol.

I will enjoy watching Nothing But Net this year.
