North Carolina gets commitment from four-star wide receiver Jordyn Adams

The North Carolina football program is having one of its most successful recruiting cycles in years, and certainly the best since head coach Larry Fedora took over in 2012.

On Monday, the Tar Heels’ hot streak on the recruiting trail continued when the team received a commitment from four-star wide receiver Jordyn Adams.

Adams, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound native of Cary, North Carolina, picked UNC over Clemson during a ceremony held at Nike’s The Opening on Monday.

“I really love the coaching staff because they’re really family oriented,” Adams said after making his announcement. “Early on, coach Brewer told me from Day One I could come in as a freshman and make a big impact. Also, as a baseball prospect, coach Fox told me the same thing.”

Adams is the Tar Heels’ 11th commit in the class of 2018, and their fifth four-star prospect. His commitment comes just weeks after four-star quarterback Tyler Shough pledged to North Carolina. Both players should figure heavily into the North Carolina offense for years to come.

According to the updated 247Sports Composite team rankings, North Carolina moves up to 18th after the Adams commitment.

Deke Adams, Jordyn’s father, is the North Carolina defensive line coach. It’s UNC coaches Gunter Brewer and Terry Joseph, though, who have been credited with the recruitment and commitment of Adams.

Along with North Carolina and Clemson, Adams had offers from a number of other big-time football programs including Alabama, LSU, Maryland, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Ohio State and South Carolina.

Adams, the fifth-ranked prospect in the state of North Carolina, is also a terrific baseball player. He holds a number of scholarship offers on the diamond as well, and plans to continue his baseball career at UNC.
