UNC has officially offered a big man in the class of 2019, targeting a five star power forward from Virginia

Just days after Roy Williams offered scholarships to class of 2018 recruits, he was back on the recruiting trail for the 2019 class.

Williams offered point guard Jeremiah Francis on Wednesday night and then followed it up with another offer in the class.

Armando Bacot became the first big man in the 2019 class to receive an offer from the Tar Heels. He’s also the sixth player the Tar Heels have offered in the class.

Bacot made it official Friday morning with a tweet announcing the offer via his Twitter account.

The 6-foot-9 power forward is the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Virginia and ranked 25th overall in the class.

UNC loaded up on big men in 2017, a major need for the program after losing Isaiah Hicks and Kennedy Meeks. Now they hope to bring a big man in for their 2018 and 2019 classes.

Bacot might be that ideal recruit.

Playing for Team Loaded Va. in the Adidas Uprising circuit, Bacot impressed playing alongside fellow big man David McCormack.

He’s received over 13 offers from big time programs such as UNC, UCLA, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Virginia and Miami among others. He spoke with Slam Magazine about his rise and the offers:

“At the time it was so fun, but now with so many coaches contacting me sometimes it can be overwhelming but I’ve been trying to embrace it,” Bacot said. “I’m not making a decision any time soon. So now I’m just trying to figure out which schools I want to keep a relationship with.”

According to Ross Martin of Inside Carolina, Bacot has already made two unofficial visits to Chapel Hill.

With a while to go in his recruiting process, Bacot will likely be on campus again in the future, hopefully taking an official visit.

The five star recruit has quickly climbed the rankings in the 2019 class becoming a hot topic and receiving interest from several top programs.

In June he participated in the National Basketball Player Players Association’s Top 100 Camp earning All-Star honors along with 10 other players.

He will enter his junior year at Trinity Episcopal high school in Virginia, after helping lead the Titans to a state title in 2017.
