Game Recap

  • Coach Al Skinner was about 10 minutes late to his post game press conference following the Eagles 73-57 loss. He was visibly upset with his team's "lack of effort". “It's not really practice. I’m not really sure what it is that’s why it took me so long to get down here (media room)."
  • Skinner was hard on his team following yet another lackluster performance. "The point differential is very disturbing to me. The lack of energy we have shown in these conditions has to change". He noted that this particular team, unlike any other he has coached, lacks mental toughness. The team's lack of focus has severely hurt their play. "It goes back to lack of effort. It has to improve."
  • The Eagles played poor man-to-man defense throughout the game allowing Maryland to dominate throughout. They closed the first half on an 8-0 run to cut the lead down to 38-28.
  • On the offensive end the Eagles struggled to handle Maryland's defensive pressure and trapping causing BC to commit 18 turnovers in the game. Skinner benched Biko Paris in favor of Reggie Jackson for much of the second half, although neither player was very effective.

  • There were several scouts in attendance at the game. Most were on hand to see Maryland's Greivis Vasquez. One scout believes he would be a solid 2nd round pick. Reggie Jackson is also on the radar although his performance was not all together impressive.

  • I asked about the future of former BC player Sean Williams who was recently waived by the New Jersey Nets. One scout believes he could still be an impact player if he plays with a passing first point guard who can create looks for him around the rim.
