Things to Watch

Tyrese Rice has been the heartbeat of Boston College for the past 4 years and now a new era is starting in Chestnut Hill.  Former backup point guard Biko Paris enters the picture and brings a different repertoir to the lineup.  Paris is not the scorer that Rice was, but he does bring the ability to pressure the ball.  Joining Paris in the backcourt are known commodities Rakim Sanders and Reggie Jackson.  Sanders had the second highest usage percentage behind Rice last season, so Sanders is the odds-on choice to lead BC in scoring.  Reggie Jackson enters his sophomore season after a freshman campaign that saw him average 7.0 points per game.  Jackson has shown a knack for putting the ball in the basket with a quick first step and a nice mid-range game.

In the frontcourt, Joe Trapani returns for his 2nd season after a successful first season on Boston College's campus.  Trapani flashed a versatile skillset in 08-09 with the ability to shoot from the perimeter or post his man up.  Joining Trapani as a player who can play in and out is Corey Raji.  Raji gives BC a defensive stopper, an athlete, but most notably an offensive rebounder who teams must note in their scouting reports to keep off the glass.  If Al Skinner opts to go bigger, Josh Southern provides an option down low.  Southern is limited offensively, but the big man is as good of a post defender as is found in the ACC.

Looking at the rest of the roster, Tyler Roche will get time and can shoot the ball from behind the arc but is limited otherwise.  The trio of Dallas Elmore, Evan Ravenel, and Cortney Dunn will have an opportunity to earn time but have yet to prove they can be solid contributors at the ACC level.

Boston College returns an experienced cast and should finish anywhere from 2nd to 6th in the ACC despite the loss of Tyrese Rice.

Fantasy Player to Watch

Joe Trapani burst on the scene in the ACC last season showing an ability score and a knack for getting on the boards. Another important trait for a fantasy scorer is the ability to get to the free throw line and make free throws. Trapani exceeded in this area as well making him a fantasy player to watch.
