Boston College beat Iowa after a dramatic finish in the annual ACC-Big 10 Challenge. BC was in control most of the game, but allowed Iowa to get back in it during the final minutes. After Iowa hit a couple of big threes to cut the lead down to 1, Tyrese Rice was fouled and went to the line to shoot 2. He missed the first and made the second to give BC a 57-55 lead with about 12 seconds left. BC played great defense on Iowa's final possession to force a bad shot, but BC's Corey Raji fouled an Iowa player during the loose ball as time expired, sending him to the free throw line with a chance to tie. Luckily, he missed to front end of the 1 and 1 and the game was over.

This was a pretty sloppy and boring game up until the final minute. BC's offense lacked any sort of rhythm or flow. We missed far a couple crucial bunnies around the hoop and made too many turnovers by making bad passes into traffic. The bright spot was that the defense looked improved today. We showed some full court press and half court trap. The Eagles also did a nice job rebounding and Southern had a team high 9. Rice was in foul trouble and never really got going offensively, although he was BC's lone double digit scorer and finished with a game high 15. BC must improve their shooting as a team to compete in the ACC. It was interesting to see Skinner stick with Dallas Elmore and Reggie Jackson at the end of the game while leaving Sanders and Trapani on the bench. Crowd attendance was PITIFUL. Even the student section was only about half full, very disappointing.
