Taylor King to Transfer

Reportedly Taylor King has told the Duke coaching staff about his intentions to transfer.  Word is that King is looking at two big east schools, and is not interested in going to UCLA, where he had previously committed.  The season wasn't a total failure for King, who averaged in double-figures for the first third of the season, but his game was too similar to fellow freshmen Kyle Singler, and his minutes suffered at the end of the season.  Unfortunatley for King, Singler was simply better at everything other than shooting from long range.

Duke brings back all of their frontcourt players from this season, and unless the Blue Devils get a huge step forward from Brian Zoubek or Lance Thomas, Duke will likely be overmatched in the frontcourt once again next year.  Duke also brings in top 70 recruit Olek Czyz, who is 6'8", 235 lbs and fairly athletic, although his game is rough around the edges, and likely not ready for immediate playing time.

Mike Krzyzewski said the following about the news...

“Taylor is a solid young man and has the ability to be a good player,” said Krzyzewski. “We support him in his decision to transfer and wish him the best of luck in the future.”
