Duke 77 Maryland 65 (Box Score)

Kyle Singler led Duke with a career-high 26 points and also added 7 rebounds while making 6-9 three pointers, while Greg Paulus added 20 points and 4 assists in the Duke win.   Jon Scheyer (13 pts, 6 rebs) and Demarcus Nelson (12 pts, 5 rebs, 4 stls) also added double-figures.

While twelve Duke three pointers helped, the Blue Devils won this game defensively grabbing 14 steals and ultimately forcing 19 Maryland turnovers.

For Maryland, Greivis Vasquez was a one man show, leading the with 25 points and 7 assists, while also adding 8 rebounds.  Vasquez forced some shots, but did finish 11-22 from the floor, while Bambale Osby was the only other Terp in double-figures with 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Duke's defense focused on James Gist limiting the big man to only 9 points on 3-11 shooting, while Gist also added 10 rebounds before fouling out.

Back to Singler for a moment, who DBR points out, took on the Maryland frontcourt and won...

In College Park, Duke had trouble dealing with Bambale Osby and James Gist, who dominated Duke inside.  In Durham, though, Kyle Singler outscored the two of them by himself as he continues the transition from freshman standout to all-around star, scoring 25 and leading Duke to a 77-65 victory.

Looking Ahead to NCAA Bids

David Glenn has just posted an article looking at the NCAA bids that the ACC could receive.  Glenn has the ACC with 2 locks (Duke, UNC), two teams that are "looking good so far" (Maryland, Clemson), and NC State and Miami on the bubble.

Glenn says the Wolfpack are very close, while Miami will likely have to finish 8-8 to secure a bid thanks to their strong RPI.
