Wake Forest simply isn't the same team on the road as they are at home. A game after the Demon Deacons beat the #2 Miami Hurricanes by 15 points they went to Tallassee and lost to FSU 76-62. The game had no flow and both teams were in foul trouble throughout most of the game. The Seminoles had control of the game in the first half before Okaro White and Michael Snaer went to the bench with 2 fouls. Wake Forest got the game within 3 points before the half was over, and it was back to 6 by halftime. FSU opened up the game early in the second half and never looked back.
FSU's dominance on the boards were the key as the Seminoles grabbed 52% of their own misses and 83% of Wake's misses. FSU's FT Rate of 64 combined with their FT% of 87% (26-30) was huge as well. The Seminoles free throw shooting was a big issue in their loss over Virginia Tech over the weekend.
Tonight, we have three conference games. Miami hosts Virginia Tech in what should be a bounceback/blowout win. If the Hurricanes struggle in this one, you should start to have your doubts about what this team can accomplish this season. Georgia Tech hosts Maryland in what is a must win for the Terps. The Yellow Jackets have a lot of size to match the Maryland frontcourt, but look for this one to be a sloppy, turnover-fest. NC State hosts Boston College as well in a game that if the Pack can't focus and play well could put some doubt in the Pack's tournament chances. Game Sim has this game surprisingly close with the Pack winning by just 4.
