Last week: 9-2 Overall: 15-6

Wake Forest vs. Florida State

Congratulations Florida State, you're playing your first game against an FBS opponent this season, although last week wasn't really your fault. If you happen to be in Las Vegas this weekend, go bet on Wake Forest to cover the point spread. Depending on the site you look at, Florida State is a 28 point favorite. This game also has trap written all over it for Florida State, with Clemson on the horizon next week. Wake's coming off of an impressive home win against North Carolina, and have some momentum on their side as well. The last time these two teams met in Tallahassee two years ago, Florida State won 31-0, holding Wake to 185 total yards. This year's Wake team looks better than that. They'll be in the game, but the home team will pull away late. Florida State 37, Wake Forest 20

Virginia Tech vs. Pittsburgh

This is the first meeting between the two since Virginia Tech left for the ACC. But this will be a conference meeting again starting next year.  Pitt actually has a three game winning streak in this series. Of course, the kids on both teams were in third or fourth grade the last time these two met. The Hokies are 2-0, and are still having some struggles offensively, especially in the running game. Pitt has been an embarrassment in their first two games, losing at home to Youngstown State, and losing at Cincinnati. I can see this game being a bit sloppy, but I think the Hokies special teams will revert to its old form and blocking a punt in this game, which will give the Hokies the momentum it needs to get them a road win. Virginia Tech 24, Pitt 10

Bethune-Cookman vs. Miami

This is the perfect opportunity for Miami to recover after the shellacking they took at the hands of Kansas State last week. But there are some concerns here. Miami has given up 84 points in their first two games this year, and in last year's meeting with Bethune-Cookman, were actually out gained even though they won 45-14. The Wildcats are 2-0, including a conference win in the MEAC. They are not a very disciplined team, having been penalized 25 times in the first two games. While I think they will put up some yards on Miami's defense, the points won't be enough to pull of the upset. Miami 34, Bethune-Cookman 13

Connecticut vs. Maryland

Who would have thought Maryland would be 2-0 at this point? It's a good story so far. But they needed a fourth quarter touchdown to beat Maryland, and nearly lost a 23 point lead before a late touchdown sealed the win at Temple last week. UConn is playing an ACC team for the second consecutive week, losing a 10-7 snooze fest to NC State last week. Teams are 24-53 passing on UConn in the first two weeks, and while Maryland isn't strong on offense, they tend to be better in the passing game. UConn is averaging 2.4 yards per carry through the first two weeks, and haven't been that great throwing the ball either. This is going to be a pretty sloppy game, and even though Maryland has gotten off to a nice start, the streak ends here. Connecticut 20, Maryland 10

Furman vs. Clemson

Clemson is the best team in the ACC hands down. And they get Sammy Watkins back this week too. The Tigers are in the top 30 nationally in both rushing and passing, leading them to a 2-0 start. The Paladins are 0-2, and have not beaten a FBS team since beating North Carolina in 1999. The two losses by the Paladins are by a combined five points. They will lose by a lot more than that this week. They are a decent running team, but it won't be close to enough. Clemson 48, Furman 7

Virginia vs Georgia Tech

It would be safe to say that Virginia got lucky in their win over Penn State last week. They committed four turnovers, and needed five missed kicks (four field goals, one extra point) to get the win. Despite his struggles, Michael Rocco really came on in the fourth quarter, leading a big drive late that sealed the victory. The big concern for Virginia is the lack of a rushing attack. The usually strong running attack is ranked 102nd in the nation in rushing. Conversely, they're only allowing 2.3 yards per carry to their opponents. They Yellow Jackets have run the ball 113 times in the first two games, and ran for 469 yards last week against Presbyterian. I think they'll run for about that of that, and hold off the Cavs at home. Georgia Tech 31, Virginia 20

Boston College vs. Northwestern

Say hello to the number one passer in the ACC in terms of yardage in Chase Rettig. It helped that he threw for 441 yards in the season opener, but he's still got about a 100 yard edge over anyone else in the conference after two weeks. In fact, Rettig's thrown for nearly twice as many yards as the two Northwestern quarterbacks have thrown for combined. The Eagles are looking for revenge in this matchup, as they fell to the Wildcats 24-17 in last year's meeting. The Wildcats are better at running the ball than they are passing, but they're only ranked 69th in the nation in running. They are 2-0, beating Syracuse and Vanderbilt. They're an efficient passing team, and they spread the ball around. Five players already have at least five receptions for the Wildcats. My favorite name in this game is Northwestern DB Chi Chi Ariguzo. This will be a close game, and I think the Wildcats will continue to dink and dunk their way to another impressive victory. Northwestern 24, Boston College 21

North Carolina vs. Louisville

This is another rematch from last year. UNC edged out a 14-7 win in a game in which they only had 11 first downs and averaged 2.7 yards per carry.  UNC needs some momentum after getting beat at Wake Forest last week. Louisville is 2-0, and hasn't faced very stiff competition yet. The hope is that Gio Bernard will be back this week, and he will be needed. Bryn Renner has been solid through the first two games, but he has thrown an interception in both games. And he hasn't faced a defense as good as Louisville.  For Louisville, Teddy Bridgewater will be the one to watch. Through two games, he's thrown nine incompletions, and has not thrown an interception. But he hasn't faced a defense at UNC's level either. The Cardinals rely on two running to backs to handle the load. Senorise Perry and Jeremy Wright have combined for 328 yards and five touchdowns through the first two games. This will be a close game as well, and I give a slight lean to the home team with their balanced attack. Louisville 28, North Carolina 27

South Alabama vs. NC State

It is odd for a team like NC State to get their first home game of the season in the third week, but that's the case. Mike Glennon has struggled in the first two games, and has the lowest QB Rating in the ACC. But he shouldn't be in that spot after this week. The Jaguars are 2-0, but struggled to beat Nicholls State 9-3 last week. They're barely in the top 100 in rushing, and are 100th in passing. NC State won the first meeting between the schools last year 35-13. The Wolfpack should roll this week. NC State 38, South Alabama 10

NC Central vs. Duke

The Blue Devils are in wound licking mode after the drubbing they took at the hands of Stanford last week. They gave up 50 points to the Cardinal, who barely beat San Jose State the week before. This week's opponent, NC Central, lost 34-14 to an Elon team that lost to UNC 62-0. Sean Renfree and crew should be able to dispatch of the Eagles pretty quickly behind their passing game. Look for Renfree to top 300 yards in this game. Duke 41, NC Central 13
