Appalachian St continued an amazing week for a small school in Boone, NC, after repeating at D2 college football champions, ASU beat Virginia in hoops 80-69, in a game that was really never close. Appalachian St attempted 26 three pointers and made 13 in the win, while JR Reynolds led Virginia with 20 pts and 4 asts. Sean Singletary finished with 14 pts, 4 asts, and 4 rebs, but made just 4 of 14 from the floor. Adrian Joseph also finished in double-figures with a season-high 16 pts.
As a team, Virginia attempted 37 free throws, outrebounded, and forced more turnovers, but simply couldn't stop the three point shot in the loss.

Duke avoided an upset loss, holding off a gutsy Kent State team and an incredible 33 point performance by Kent State guard, Omni Smith. The Blue Devils beat KSU 79-72, thanks in large part to a versatile performance by Josh McRoberts. McRoberts had his best game of the season, finishing with 19 pts, 6 rebs, 6 blks, 4 asts, and 4 stls (a line that has to make fantasy owners drool).
Three other Blue Devils finished in double-figures, Demarcus Nelson (18 pts, 6 rebs), Jon Scheyer (17 pts, 3 stls), and Greg Paulus (12 pts, 5 asts). With the Blue Devils leading by one going into the second half, Mike Krzyzewski limited his bench in the second half, basically going with six players.
In other ACC action, UNC destroyed Florida Atlantic 105-52, led by 20 pts in 19 minutes for Tyler Hansbrough. Brandan Wright (15 pts, 8 rebs), Wayne Ellington (14 pts, 5 rebs), Reyshawn Terry (14 pts, 7 rebs), and Ty Lawson (11 pts, 8 asts, 4 stls) all finished in double-figures, as well.
The Heels forced 24 turnovers, and shot made 13 more free throws then FAU attempted.
Clemson beat a solid Georgia Southern squad 72-60, behind 22 pts and 7 rebs from center, James Mays. Mays finished 9 for 11 from the floor, while he got help from the trio of Trevor Booker (14 pts, 7 rebs), Vernon Hamilton (13 pts), and KC Rivers (11 pts).
In the final game of the night, Wake Forest lived through a quick turnaround and a possible letdown game, beating Gardner-Webb 92-60. Eleven Demon Deacons scored 4 or more pts, including a trio of players that scored 13 pts to lead the team in Anthony Gurley, Kyle Visser, and Michael Drum.
