Two days after Miami dropped a game to solid Arizona team by double-figures, the Hurricanes dropped the consolation game of the Diamond Head Classic in overtime to Indiana State.  This is an Indiana State that can most known by two things, Larry Bird and the following tweet by @akulawolf.

Its clear that Miami has missed Reggie Johnson, who missed all 3 games of the Diamond Head Classic due to a thumb injury, but it was the perimeter attack that was lacking against Indiana State.  Miami was 0-15 from 3 point range after coming in shooting 37% from long range for the season.  The Hurricanes continue to be a isolation heavy offensive team.  They rank 2nd to last in percentage of field goals assisted on, and were even worse against Indiana State assisting on just 32% of field goals.  You can get away with that if you're a solid offensive rebounding team, but the Canes are not.

Miami will return to action on January 2nd when hosting La Salle (#59 Pomeroy).  The hope is that Reggie Johnson will return for Miami's final tuneup before conference play begins January 5th.

*******

After the loss the theme on the twitter definitely mirrors Chicken Little's "the sky is falling" line of thinking.  The ACC is has two teams with solid resumes at the moment in Duke and NC State.  What follows those 2 teams is a list of questionable losses and more eyesores that can be desired.  Can the ACC get more than 4 teams in the tournament this year?  Miami is definitely among those teams.  Where does Miami stand with questionable losses to Florida Gulf Coast and Indiana State albeit with a missing starter in both games?  The selection committee is known to turn a blind eye to such losses, but the Hurricanes will need to prove to be a more consistent team with their full squad.
