Virginia Tech opened up their conference season with a home win over Wake Forest 63-60Zabian Dowdell (14 pts, 5 rebs, 4 asts), AD Vassallo (14 pts), and Jamon Gordon (13 pts) all finished in double-figures.  Gordon scored 13 pts despite a sprained knee that kept him ouf of the game late.  Markus Sailes played in Gordon's absence and finished with 4 assists and 0 turnovers.

One key to the Hokies' win was getting freshman point guard, Ish Smith, in foul trouble.  Smith picked up his 4th foul with 10+ minutes remaining in the game and fouled out shortly after he returned to action.  Smith finished with just 4 pts, 1 asts, 2 tos in just 16 minutes.

Kyle Visser was the bright spot for the Demon Deacons, finishing with 18 pts and 9 rebs, while Jamie Skeen also scored in double-figures with 13 pts and 5 rebs.

In other ACC action, Boston College easily beat Sacred Heart 101-68, behind 20 pts and 6 rebs from Jared Dudley.
