Miami lost 70-52 to Mississippi St on their homecourt last night. Jack McClinton led the way for the Hurricanes with 16 pts and 6 rebs on 6-15 shooting. Brian Asbury added 14 pts and 8 rebs, while freshman, Dwayne Collins added 14 pts, 6 rebs, and 5 blks. Collins was filling in for Anthony King who is out until mid-January with a wrist injury.

Poor Hurricane Effort
After the game Frank Haith hinted that the lineup could look different the next time the 'Canes take the court saying, "Absolutely there are going to be changes." Look for Collins to be inserted into the starting lineup with Miami plays against Stetson on Saturday.
Frank Haith knew that exam week could affect his team, but he tried to impress upon his players that it is no excuse. Prior to the game, Haith specifically told his players that the NCAA selection committee would not remember that this game was during exam week.
This week is as important as any week of practice, games, or even tournament games to ACC teams. Just last year Chris McCray and James Mays missed conference play, as he was ruled academically ineligible severely hurting each of their teams.
Often, schools will schedule cupcakes, such as Maryland, UNC, Virginia, and NC State have done over the next couple of days. Duke is taking a different approach, and simply taking a week off before a game next Tuesday with Kent State.
Wake Forest and Virginia Tech do not have the luxury of having a week to concentrate on studies, as each must prepare for their conference opener on Sunday. Wake Forest takes on Depaul tomorrow night while Virginia Tech will take the week off before playing the Demon Deacons on Sunday.
