Kicker Casey Barth will miss the final two games of the season after injuring his ankle during UNC's 68-50 loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday. The injury occurred during the ill-fated third quarter when Barth moved up to help cover the kick return and had Yellow Jacket player Jamal Golden land on his foot causing the injury. UNC did not make a formal announcement concerning Barth but instead listed him as "out for the season" on the weekly injury report.

On the season Barth was 15-19 on field goals and had made all 44 point after touchdown kicks. On kickoffs, Barth had 72 kicks for an average of 61.2 yards and 19 touchbacks. This is the second time in as many seasons Barth has been injured. In 2011, Barth suffered a groin injury early in the season and opted to redshirt setting up a return for a fifth year this season.

The injury to Barth ended a nine year stretch where UNC has had a Barth as kicker. Connor Barth, now with the Tampa Bay Bucanneers, was UNC's kicker from 2004-2007 and is best known for his 54-yard FG to beat #3 Miami during his freshman season. Casey Barth followed his older brother to Chapel Hill from Wilmington and took over the kicking duties in 2008.

The younger Barth concludes his career at UNC holding numerous school records for kicking.

Career field goals: 66
Career PATs: 160
Career scoring: 358
Season field goals: 21(tie)
Single game PATs: 9
Consecutive PATs: 126

Walk-on Thomas Moore, as he did a year ago, will handle the kicking duties with Barth out.
