North Carolina bounced back from a loss to Gonzaga with a 101-87 win over TennesseeTyler Hansbrough was much more involved in the win finishing with 27 pts, 9 rebs,  6 asts, and took 17 shots from the floor, making 8.  The focus for the Heels was to get the ball inside to Hansbrough and Brandan Wright, who finished with 19 pts and 8 rebs.

Despite the win, Roy Williams remained unhappy about letting Tennessee back into the game late.  UNC finished with 26 turnovers against 20 assists, but did make 57% of their shots from the floor.

Florida State played at #3 Pittsburgh, but lost 88-66 despite 23 pts and 5 rebs from Toney Douglas.  It was Douglas' best game for the Noles, after transferring from Auburn after his freshman year.  FSU's best player, Al Thornton, was limited to just 25 minutes due to early foul trouble, but still finished with 16 pts and 4 rebs.  The biggest problem in the loss was on the boards, where Pitt outrebounded Florida State 28-17.

In other ACC play, after a slow start, Maryland took down High Point 81-63.  Four Maryland Terrapins finished in double-figures, led by Ekene Ibekwe with 16 pts and 6 rebs.  The Terps were up by just 4 at halftime, but opened the 2nd half with a 9-2 run and were never threatened after that.

Finally, in 3 other less signficant games, Clemson took out Charleston Southern 74-50, NC State beat Gardner-Webb 88-76 behind 26 pts from Engin Atsur and 23 from Gavin Grant, and Virginia Tech took out Montana 77-56.
