Virginia Tech continues a tough week for the ACC, as they lost to Western Michigan 71-68 on Thanksgiving night. The Hokies led for most of the game, before Western Michigan hit a barrage of three point shots, and the Hokies made some poor decisions coming down the stretch.
AD Vassallo led the Hokies in scoring coming into the game, but scored just 5 pts on 2-10 shooting, including several late shots which could have tied the game or put the Hokies in the lead. Coleman Collins did not get nearly enough touches for the Hokies taking just five field goal attempts and scoring 5 pts and adding 5 rebs.
On the positive side, Jamon Gordon led the way with 19 pts and 5 rebs on 9-11 shooting. Zabian Dowdell, along with Gordon, kept the Hokies in the game late as Dowdell added 16 pts, 5 rebs, and 3 stls while Deron Washington added 17 pts.
The Hokies take on Montana tonight (7:30, ESPN2), who lost to West Virginia yesterday.
