Florida State will not lose another ACC game
I know alot of people are predicting the demise of the Seminoles after their inexplicable performance at NC State, but I think Florida State will learn from that. This is still a very talented team with an elite defense. That night they got caught up playing not to lose against a Wolfpack team that finally played to it’s a potential. Basically it was the perfect storm of dysfunctional play-calling on the road against a pretty good team. There is still the game at Virginia Tech, but I’ve seen nothing from the Hokies to make me believe they are capable of beating Florida State.
Miami will make its first ACC Championship appearance
Finally the ACC will get the Florida State\Miami ACCCG it thought it would have multiple times when the conference began having its championship game in 2005. The Canes may not be all the way back, but Al Golden has them playing well enough to emerge champions of a down coastal division.
Virginia Tech’s streak of 8 straight 10 win seasons will come to an end.
This isn’t exactly a earth shattering prediction. At 3-3 the Hokies would have to win 7 more games. With road trips to Miami and Clemson and as we’ve mentioned FSU at home, nope it’s not happening. This will end up being one of the worst Hokies teams in recent memory.
Georgia Tech and Duke will make a bowl games
They Yellow Jackets at 2-4 have a lot of work to extend their bowl streak that started in 1997. It’s almost a virtual certainty that Georgia Tech will lost at Georgia as well. That means the Jackets must go 4-1 in their other 5 games. The thing is Georgia Tech is still putting up tons of points and yards ranking in the top 30 nationally in both categories. If Al Groh was truly the problem with the defense which I believe he was to a certain extent, they will be able to beat Boston College, BYU, and Duke at home and get a road win at Maryland or UNC.
Duke needs but 1 win to get bowl eligible. They are going to do it. David Cutcliffe has his team playing with a lot of confidence, and I’m eyeing the home game on October 20th as the day it may happen.
