North Carolina trailed for most of the game, but thanks to Marcus Ginyard had a chance to win the game 73-66 over Winthrop.  Ginyard drew the responsibility of guarding Winthrop star Torrell Martin.  Martin scored 20 first half points, including 6 three point shots, but only scored 5 in the second half and none after the 17:10 mark in the 2nd half.  Offensively for the Heels, Tyler Hansbrough led the way once again with 20 pts and 10 rebs, while Wayne Ellington (13 pts) and Brandan Wright (12 pts) both reached double-figures as well.

Ultimately, this result wasn't a big surprise with an experienced mid-major like Winthrop facing a young Tarheels team that is still learning how to win.  It is a big win for UNC, and more importantly experience they will need as their schedule gets more difficult.

In other ACC action on Wednesday, Clemson earned a 67-58 win over Furman.  The Tigers had control for most of the game, leading by as much as 18 in the 2nd half.  Vernon Hamilton led the way with 13 pts, while James Mays added a double-double with 11 pts and 10 rebs.  KC Rivers came off the bench to spark a key 2nd half run, and finished with 10 pts, 6 rebs, and 4 asts, freshman Trevor Booker finished with 9 pts and 7 rebs in just 19 minutes of action.
