Its early, but lets take our first stab at Hot & Not:
Hot
- Shamari Spears - The BC forward has been in double figures each of his first few games (including exhibiton play), and scored 23 in his collegiate debut. Spears is making the most of the suspension of Akida McLain and may well take a starting position away from McLain.
- Brian Zoubek - Another freshman who is making an impact for the Blue Devils. Zoubek is 7'0" 250 lbs, and has advanced footwork and hands, making him an instant threat when he comes in the game.
- Sean Singletary - No surprise here, but Singletary handled Arizona in the opener of the JPJA. Singletary is the top point guard in the nation and proved it by handling Mustafa Shakur.
Not
- JR Reynolds - Big things were expected from Reynolds this season, but he struggled in exhibition play and got poked in the eye in practice. Reynolds played only 21 minutes in the opener due to the eye injury, and was 3-8 from the field.
- Josh McRoberts - Whether or not McRoberts deserves to be on this list, he simply hasn't posted All-American numbers so far. McRoberts has looked to get his freshmen teammates involved early as noted by only 2 field goal attempts in the Duke's opener.
- Vernon Hamilton - With hopes of a NCAA bid this year, Hamilton hoped to have a big year for the Tigers. Through 3 games, Hamilton is averaging 4.7 turnovers per game against 3.7 assists per game.
