Ben McCauley led the way for the Pack with 26 pts on 10-13 shooting and added 5 rebs and 4 asts while Engin Atsur returned to action to score 24 pts and added 5 asts and 4 rebs.
Boston College beat New Hampshire in the Eagles' opener 86-47 and freshman, Shamari Spears stole the show. Spears finished with 23 pts and 6 rebs on 8-10 shooting, while Jared Dudley had 19 pts, 11 rebs, and 4 asts.
Virginia Tech opened up with Coppin St last night and won 94-43 and had seven players with seven points or more in a balanced attack. Zabian Dowdell finished with 16 pts, 7 asts, and 5 rebs while AD Vassallo had 15 pts in just 12 minutes of action. Coleman Collins added a double-double with 11 pts and 10 rebs.
Georgia Tech debuted a trio of freshmen in their starting lineup in the Yellow Jackets' season opening win 83-49 over Elon on Friday. Javaris Crittenton scored 17 pts and added 5 asts and 5 rebs, while Thaddeus Young finished with 15 pts and 6 rebs in their collegiate debuts. The third freshman in the starting lineup, Zach Peacock, finished with 9 pts and 4 rebs.
Clemson opened up their season over Arkansas St. with a win 83-44 on Friday night. KC Rivers led the way with 15 pts while James Mays (13 pts, 4 rebs) and David Potter (12 pts) both scored in double-figures as well.
