The Blue Devils will have four captains this season including senior quarterback Sean Renfree, senior wide receiver Conner Vernon, senior safety Walt Canty and redshirt junior corner Ross Cockrell.

This marks the second straight season Renfree has served as a team captain. Renfree as well as Vernon are all the Senior Bowl watchlist for the 2012 season.

Vernon was also named to the ESPN preseason All-ACC team. He is a two-time Second Team All-ACC selection and is 35 receptions and 843 yards away from setting new ACC records. He is also on the Biletnikoff Award watchlist for the nation's best wide receiver.

In other news, Duke head coach David Cutcliffe announced during his weekly press conference on Tuesday that he and other members of the coaching staff and athletic program would be flying to Atlanta to visit injured Blue Devil wide receiver Blair Holliday.

Holliday who was seriously injured following a July 4th jet ski accident has been receiving treatment at the Shepherd Rehabilitation Center since being transferred there from UNC-Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

According to updates provided by the Duke Athletic Department, Holliday is walking and talking on his own and will be released to an outpatient program.

The Blue Devils are schedule to open the season Saturday against Florida International with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
