We finish up our defensive player rankings with the safety position. After that it the special team’s player rankings then team season predictions. Alright so who are the 5 Safeties in the ACC? Ray-Ray Armstrong would have certainly made the list had he not been dismissed from the Miami Hurricanes football team.

1) Lamarcus Joyner, Florida State
Last season Florida State blog Tomahawknation called Larmarcus Joyner the Seminoles most important player. This year I’m calling him the ACC’s best safety. Despite being only 5-8 Joyner is an aggressive and physical player with great instincts. He’s been named to the pre-season All-ACC team and multiple pre-season award watch lists.
2) Earl Wolff, North Carolina State
Earl Wolff will be joining Lamarcus Joyner on the pre-season All-ACC 1st team at safety. He was second on the Wolfpack’s team with more than 100 tackles last year. He is considered one of the 20 best senior linebackers in college football.
3) Rashard Hall, Clemson
Clemson senior Rashard Hall has been one of the ACC’s better safeties since his freshman season. At 6-1 210 Lbs he has good size for safety and is projected as a 5th or 6th round NFL draft pick. Hall led the Tigers in tackles last season, but will be becoming of off-season knee surgery.
4) Isaiah Johnson, Georgia Tech
The 6-2 junior Isaiah Johnson is an up and coming safety in the ACC. He received the 4th most pre-season All-ACC votes at safety and is considered one of the leaders of a solid Georgia Tech secondary.
5) Matt Robinson, Maryland
Talk about an up and coming safety and here’s sophomore Matt Robinson of Maryland. At 6-2 or 6-3 depending what you read and 220-225 lbs, Terrapin coaches have to love his size. He played only 3 games last year before a season-ending injury, but I like his physical style. It might be a stretch to put him at 5, but I’m expecting a strong season from him.
