The Georgia Tech freshman duo made their game debut, beating Morehouse College 96-52 on Saturday. Javaris Crittenton finished with 15 pts and 8 asts, while Thaddeus Young ended up with a team-high 20 pts. Young shot 7-11 from the floor, including 2-5 from behind the arc and added 5 assists, as well. Three others finished in double figures, Lewis Clinch (16 pts), Jeremis Smith (10 pts, 5 rebs), and reshirt freshman Mouhammad Faye (11 pts).
The Yellow Jackets also got some good news as Anthony Morrow should return to practice this week, and should see some playing time in opener against Elon on Friday.
In Durham, NC on Saturday the Duke Blue Devils played their second and final exhibition beating North Carolina Central 92-63. The Blue Devils had 5 players in double figures, Demarcus Nelson (14 pts, 3-10 FG, 7-9 FT), Brian Zoubek (14 pts, 5 rebs), Jon Scheyer (14 pts, 3-6 3PT), Josh McRoberts (13 pts, 9 rebs), and Martynas Pocius (12 pts).
The Duke freshmen contributed greatly once again, and the Duke defense forced 27 turnovers which will be a key for this team. Mike Krzyzewski flipped the lineup once again adding redshirt-sophomore David McClure to the starting lineup. McClure is coming off of an knee injury last season which caused him to take a medical redshirt. This season McClure has come back with surprising athleticism and has caused some excitement from Duke fans.
