Gavin Grant led the Wolfpack with 29 pts in a win over Northern State 78-71 on Friday night. Grant also added a team-high 8 rebs and 6 asts, although he did have 5 turnovers. Grant did a large portion of his work at the free throw line where he went 10-13, to go with his 8-11 shooting from the floor. Sophomore center, Ben McCauley, finished with 19 pts and 6 rebs while senior, Bryan Nieman, finished with 13 pts.
After leading the Pack in scoring in the Red/White game, Courtney Fells suffered through a 1-10 shooting night against Northern State. Fells did contribute 6 rebs, 6 stls, and 5 asts.
“I thought a couple of individuals played really well,” Lowe said. “Courtney Fells played well. He didn’t shoot well, but he defended, he made some big steals, he got some big rebounds.
As a team the Wolfpack turned the ball over 20 times against 18 assists, although they were playing without senior point guard, Engin Atsur, who was still nursing a sore achilles.
The Pack trailed 29-18 in the first half, before Grant, who helped out at the point guard position, took over.
