North Carolina opened up exhibition play last night as they beat St. Augustine's 110-79. Freshman forward, Brandan Wright led the Tarheels in scoring with 19 pts as 11 Tarheels played at least 10 minutes in the game. Tyler Hansbrough had 14 pts and 5 rebs and went 8-11 from the free line in the contest, while Marcus Ginyard (14 pts, 4 rebs) and Wayne Ellington (13 pts) rounded out the Heels in double-figures. Of note was the UNC starting lineup of Reyshawn Terry, Wright, Hansbrough, Wes Miller, and Bobby Frasor, which was missing freshman phenom, Ty Lawson who scored 9 pts on 4-5 shooting and added 5 assists against just 2 turnovers.
In other ACC exhibition play, Maryland just barely managed a 79-78 win over California University of Pennsylvania. The Terps never trailed in the second half and were led by freshman Landon Milbourne who scored 14 pts. Other players in double-figures included, Bambale Osby (11 pts in 11 mins), Will Bowers (10 pts), and DJ Strawberry (10 pts). At the point guard position, Parrish Brown ended with 7 pts and 1 assist while freshman Eric Hayes finished with 9 asts.
