Florida State trailed by 5 at halftime, but started the 2nd half with a 19-4 run to take control of the game and ultimately win 90-72 over Spring Hill College. Jason Rich led the Seminoles in scoring with 17 pts, with Al Thornton adding 16 pts. Uche Echefu, who the Noles need to step up, added 10 pts and 10 rebs, while freshman Ryan Reid added 8 pts and 7 rebs.
Transfer, Toney Douglas added 11 pts on 4-12 shooting and added 4 asts against 5 turnovers. Regarding the performance by Douglas and the Noles, Leonard Hamilton had this to say:
