NC State's Lorenzo Brown to have knee surgery

The website PackInsider.com reported Sunday morning that Lorenzo Brown will be having knee surgery in the next few days.  They also reported that Brown's injury is to his meniscus, not the feared torn ACL.  Since posting the original article, PackInsider.com has removed the same article without mentioning why on Twitter.

The Fayetteville Observer has picked up the story and can give you more here.  As their story mentions, nothing has been officially released from NC State on the story so the details may not be exactly correct.

Assuming Brown does have a torn meniscus, I can give a pretty good report as I had the same surgery about 5 years ago.  The surgery is done arthroscopically with two incisions on the front of the leg below the knee cap.  Brown will have to be on crutches for about a week and will start physical therapy shortly thereafter.  Lorenzo Brown should have no problem getting back in time for beginning of NC State practice for the 2012-13 season.
