So often rumors in sports start with some source being quoted by a media outlet or on a message board and it spreads like wildfire across the internet.  The rumors surrounding Andre Dawkins status for next year would certainly fall into that realm. On Thursday the rumor mill was churning hard and fast and Twitter was a buzz with talk that Dawkins was transferring or had been kicked off of the team.

There was more speculation being done in a few minutes on Twitter than an entire day of Court TV combined.

No definitive answers were given but Duke did release a statement late last night that said that Dawkins status for next year was uncertain and that he may be redshirting, but that he was still a part of the basketball team. A final decision will be made in the fall.

The last part of that is good news as no one wants to see a kid get kicked off the team for doing something bad or transferring with one year of eligibility remaining. But even the answer that has been given and now the possibility of him redshirting still leaves a lot of questions.

Namely, why would he redshirt, especially as a rising senior?

Note from the Editor:  I've removed the speculation as to why this is happening from this site.  If you would like to read the article in its entirety, check it out here.
