BREAKING NEWS: Virginia Tech's Seth Greenberg is a top candidate for men’s basketball head coach at Southern Methodist University.

Greetings from all of us at SCACCHoops – we have a breaking news update for you here at the site.

Lane Casadonte of CBS News Channel 6 in Richmond, VA is reporting that Virginia Tech basketball coach Seth Greenberg is a top candidate for the men’s basketball head coach at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. For more information, please see his tweet below:

I’m surprised and, and the same time, not surprised by this news.

I’m surprised because I did not think that SMU would want to hire anyone from the East coast for their top men’s hoops job – Seth has absolutely no ties that I know of to the State of Texas. He obviously would have to hire at least one assistant right away with ties to that region of the country.

I’m not surprised, however, because Seth Greenberg is a New Yorker and loves the Big East – and SMU is making a move to the Big East – it’s very intriguing – something we need to look out for in the coming weeks.
