The final weekend of ACC regular season action gave us some great moments, so there is no other way to recap this except by some bullet points!
- As I predicted in my pregame thoughts, Virginia Tech gave Boston College everything that they could handle with BC winning 59-57. Like the matchup in Blacksburg, Zabian Dowdell had a shot to win the game with a 3 and missed once again.
- Clemson finished 7-9 in the conference by beating Georgia Tech 95-82 with Akin Akingbala, Shawan Robinson, and Vernon Hamilton all scoring 20+ points.
- Wake Forest had a successful senior day by beating struggling, NC State 76-63. Cam Bennerman didn't play in the game due to a groin injury, and although Gavin Grant did have a great game (21 pts, 8 rebs), Eric Williams of Wake was too much finishing with 22 pts and 16 rebs.
- In Durham Saturday night, North Carolina took it to Duke, beating the Blue Devils 83-76. While the Blue Devils jumped out to an early 13-3 lead, sparked by JJ Redick making his first 3 shots, Tyler Hansbrough was just too much in the 2nd half. Hansbrough scored 19 of his 27 pts in the 2nd half and added 10 rebs in the game as well.
- FSU may have clinched an NCAA bid by going on the road to be Miami on senior day. The game nearly went to OT when Robert Hite launched a potential game tying 85 footer that hit the rim and bounced off. Florida State's big men, Al Thornton and Alexander Johnson, both had double doubles finishing with a combined 32 pts and 23 rebs.
- With Maryland having to have a win to keep their hopes alive for an NCAA bid, the Terps beat Virginia 71-70 when a JR Reynolds 3 bounced off to finish the game. On senior night, Reynolds scored 30 pts, but the Terps had a balanced attack where 8 guys scored at least 4 pts.
