Ty Walker's sad and largely disappointing career at Wake Forest is over, just a game shy of the end of the regular season. The senior was dismissed from the Demon Deacons due to a violation of athletic department rules, ending a tumultuous run for the big man who never quite lived up to his high school pedigree or potential.

"Unfortunately it has become necessary to suspend Ty Walker indefinitely for a violation of departmental policy,'' coach Jeff Bzdelik of Wake Forest said today as the Deacons traveled to Atlanta for Saturday's game at Georgia Tech.
It was clear from the start that former coach Skip Prosser's death had an effect on Walker, who admittedly sulked his way through his first couple seasons at Wake Forest.
He was suspended the first semester of this season for violating the team's conduct policy, but was active in ACC play. He averaged 19.9 minutes per game, including 4.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks. Walker was a five-star recruit known for his athleticism, defensive ability and long reach, but declined an opportunity to redshirt his freshman year.
The Demon Deacons are now down to just eight scholarship players for the Georgia Tech game and next week's ACC Tournament. Carson Desrosiers and Daniel Green will likely see their minutes increase to fill the void.
