Thoughts/Predictions for Wednesday

Tonight, there are 4 games in conference play:

  • Duke at FSU 7 PM ESPN - This is the rematch of the overtime game in Durham where Duke scatched out a win.  For FSU, this game may be the key to a NCAA bid.  Duke didn't have an answer for Al Thornton in Durham, and he will be a matchup problem once again.  Also, watch the matchup between Alexander Johnson and Shelden Williams, as Johnson has played very well of late, but only played 14 minutes at Duke due to foul trouble.
  • Clemson at Virginia Tech 7 PM - Yawn; This one is only interesting thanks to fantasy basketball.
  • Miami at Maryland 9 PM RJ Split - Both teams need to have a run to end the season including a couple wins in the ACC Tournament to still make the NCAA tournament, so this one should be a war.  The athletic, long guards of Maryland matching up against Harris, Hite, and Diaz should be interesting in this one.
  • UVA at UNC 9 PM RJ Split - It will be senior day in Chapel Hill, but UVA will be looking for blood after getting trounced at Clemson this past weekend.  Unlike the Pete Gillen teams of the past, Dave Leitao will have the Cavaliers pumped, so expect this to be an intense, physical game.

Predictions

Duke over FSU by 10
Virginia Tech over Clemson by 5
Miami over Maryland by 2
UNC over Virginia by 9
