Conference play starts today, are you ready?  The conference members better be, we may see as intense and bitter of a battle between the middle 7 or 8 teams as ever this season. The reason is because we have two teams clearly at the top in Duke and UNC and two teams clearly at the bottom in Wake Forest and Boston College.  Historically, when this happens you get a big group of teams in the middle.  The order of those teams will largely be determined by the strength of their conference schedule.

As always, we have a page to track which teams have the toughest conference schedules.  In basic ACC thinking, you have to get a number of wins to earn a NCAA bid.  The problem this season is not all conference wins were made alike.  In some cases, the more difficult schedule gives teams more opportunities, which may be what these middle 7 or 8 need to earn tourney bids.

I'll leave it at that this morning, while the ACC may be down, I'm excited for the season that is about to start.  Keep in mind in ACC play, anything can happen.  These schools are already familiar with one another, the players know each other, and coaches are friends on some level.  Ultimately, anything can happen.  Enjoy the ACC season, and stay with me at SCACCHoops.com as I follow it.
