Roy Williams' squad was led by Tyler Hansbrough, who finished with 25 pts and 7 rebs, while Reyshawn Terry finished with 18 pts and 8 rebs.
Guillermo Diaz led the way for the Canes with 21 pts, while Robert Hite added 15 and Anthony Harris had 12 pts and 5 asts. The Hurricanes were outrebounded by the Heels 28-17, and gave up 14 offensive rebounds to the Heels that led to some very easy baskets.
