You know the facts, you've heard them a million times on every Duke broadcast, so here is a recap:
- Born Jonathan Clay Redick
- All time leader in free throw shooting %
- Was considered a premier shooter coming out of high school
- Dropped weight going into his junior year to be in the best shape possible
- Write poetry to clear his mind
- Says Phillipians 4:13 to himself when preparing to shoot a free throw
- Contributes his beautiful shot to braking his right hand while in high school to force him to use his left more to perfect his shooting stroke.
- Continued to improve year after year, and is now an all-around scorer
- People question his ability to score in the NBA
- etc
- etc
You've heard these enough times, so I won't repeat them all again, but you should take note of JJ Redick and his accomplishments, whether you like him or not. Redick is on the verge of breaking not only Duke's all-time scoring record but the ACC scoring record. Per the Duke Update StatsWatch, JJ Redick is currently 292 points away from breaking the record that Dickie Hemric currently holds. If Redick maintains his current pace of scoring, he will break the record in Duke's second to last regular season game, against FSU.
While Redick is one of the most hated players in the nation, he is also on the verge of being one of the great players ever in the ACC. So, like him or not, watch him as you won't see another like him for quite some time.
