Christian Laettner, Kentucky fans’ most hated basketball persona, has reportedly agreed to coach the villains team in Rupp Coliseum in a game celebrating some of the Wildcats’ legends playing against their most hated rivals. When the story first came out, there were reports that the villains team could involve Nolan Smith, whose dad played at Kentucky’s rival Louisville Cardinals.
I hope Christian brings serious security with him as Kentucky fans are still heated over the greatest college player of all time’s dagger of a shot in the 1992 East Regional Finals on the way to Duke’s second consecutive national title. Maybe his two national title rings and Olympic gold medal will be enough to shield him from the insults of the Big Blue Nation.
