Virginia/Virginia Tech Box Score
Notes: In a truly ugly, rivalry game, Virginia went to Virginia Tech to beat the Hokies 54-49 behind some clutch play of Sean Singletary. Singletary scored 12 consecutive points at one point in the second half to finish with 16 pts, 5 rebs, and 6 asts although against 7 turnovers. Adrian Joseph hit a 3 to put Virginia ahead and finished in double figures as well with 11 pts and 7 rebs, while JR Reynolds finished with 16 pts as well.
For Virginia Tech, it was another disappointing home loss, dropping the Hokies to 0-4 in conference play. Zabian Dowdell led the way with 16 pts and 5 rebs, while once again Coleman Collins was forgotten for a good part of the game, but still managed to have 14 pts and 5 rebs in the loss.
Maryland/Wake Forest Box Score
Notes: In the mirror opposite of the Virginia/Virginia Tech game, Maryland and Wake Forest had a shootout where Maryland held on to win 90-86 despite a late barrage by Wake which nearly cost the Terps the game. Maryland got 22 pts off the bench from Mike Jones who made 8-11 from the field and 4-5 from three. DJ Strawberry finished with 18 pts, 4 rebs, and 4 asts while Nik Caner-Medley had 17 pts and 8 rebs and one touched ball that the referees didn't see.
In a one possession game, Wake had the ball with a chance to tie when Caner-Medley knocked the ball out of bounds, but the referees gave the Terps the ball at a key point in the game.
The Demon Deacons were almost singlehandedly brought back by 38 pts and 6 asts from senior Justin Gray who made 7-11 from behind the arc.
