Saturday
- Maryland at Miami 12 PM Raycom - In this one, the Terps have a number of long, athletic defenders to throw at the trio of Guillermo Diaz, Robert Hite, and Anthony Harris, so for Miami to have a chance it will fall back on defense and the play of Anthony King. King can be an offensive threat, but often gets lost in the shuffle with the guards taking too many jumpshots. The Terps will need to force turnovers and get easy baskets in transition to win this one on the road.
- Clemson at Virginia 12 PM Raycom - Clemson looks to go 2-0 in ACC play in playing a struggling UVA team. Clemson should matchup pretty well against Virginia as neither team boasts much post play. The key matchup will be Sean Singletary and JR Reynolds against the trio of Vernon Hamilton, Cliff Hammonds, and Shawan Robinson.
- NC State at UNC 3 PM ESPN2 - In the big matchup of the weekend, these two local rivals matchup in a game that carries big importance to the fanbases. NC State needs this win psychologically to get past their inferiority complex, and for the Wolfpack it appears this game could matchup a lot like George Washington. GW wanted to force turnovers and tempo, and State totally controlled the game from the tip. The Heels want to do the same and stay out of the half court offense where they have been less than stellar.
- Virginia Tech at FSU 7 PM CSN/FSFL - After a bad loss at Clemson on Wednesday, where the Noles were outplayed and outhustled, Leonard Hamilton's team looks to defend their homecourt against the Hokies. Virginia Tech will need to avoid a loss as well to avoid falling to 0-2 in the ACC (thanks to Sean Dockery). The two teams match up nicely as both boast athletic, quick big men and versatile guards. The key matchup in this one could be Coleman Collins and Al Thornton. Both big men are very athletic and boast a versatile offensive game.
- Boston College at Georgia Tech 5:30 PM FSN - Boston College goes to Georgia Tech and will need to beat a scrappy Georgia Tech team to avoid falling to 0-2 in the ACC with 2 road losses. For Georgia Tech, it will be about finding a matchup for versatile forward Jared Dudley. Dudley will most likely be matched up against Anthony Morrow who is much leaner than Dudley, but may be quicker. Another interesting matchup will be emerging star Jeremis Smith against proven star Craig Smith.
- Duke at Wake Forest 8 PM FSN - Duke may be playing their best basketball of the year, while Wake Forest is coming off a poor performance, barely beating ECU at home. While the two teams have their stars at the same positions, Eric Williams/Shelden Williams and Justin Gray/JJ Redick, the key to this game will be the rest of the team. For Wake, Trent Strickland may be the answer, as Duke may not have an answer to Strickland's size and quickness. For Duke, Greg Paulus and Josh McRoberts have been the answer to Duke's great play of late, and they will have to step up in a tough road environment for the Blue Devils.
